PAWNY/ARTF Winter 2026 Workshop - "Digging Deeper: Moving Beyond Differences in Therapy"

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location: Virtual/Zoom

Presented by: Jacquelin Darby, PsyD, CGP

Program Summary

In this didactic and experiential workshop, clinicians will be invited to move beyond just considering a client’s multifaceted identity to acknowledging cultural differences between themselves and their clients. Participants will learn strategies for fostering open communication, addressing political topics without bias, and identifying factors, such as generational differences, that can impact therapeutic techniques used in session in order to promote a safe, inclusive therapeutic environment. During the workshop, the participants will review two clinical cases and be given the opportunity to apply newly learned techniques taught in the presentation to better understand the benefits of using cultural factors and unpacking bias in therapy.
